Before the official cast list was released, Variety reported that Adam Driver would play the main villain of the film, describing him as someone akin to Darth Vader. Now, according to Jedi News, those sentiments weren’t that far off the mark. Rumour has it that Adam Driver will be playing none other than Han (Harrison Ford) and Leia’s (Carrie Fisher) son who must choose between the light and dark sides of the Force. Sounds a lot like what Anakin went through in Episode III.
“Sounds like Adam Driver is NOT going to play a villain…sort of. He will be playing the son of Han and Leia, and it seems he will be seduced to the Dark Side, and a main plot point for the movie will be their attempt to rescue him.” – Jedi News
This does sound intriguing but I do hope they do something new. Rehashing plot points, especially from the prequel trilogy, may not sit well with the core target audience. Plus, these new Star Wars films are meant to break new ground and introduce the franchise to a whole new generation. Why just tell the same stories when you can keep rereleasing the old movies? In any case, this could turn out well or be completely off the mark.
