Just a couple of days ago we received word that none other than Josh Brolin would be suiting up as the Mad Titan to do battle with the Earth’s mightiest heroes. Today, via Vulture, we gleamed a few more interesting details on Thanos and how he will affect the MCU.
According to Vulture, Thanos will be an immediate presence in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. Much like Emperor Palpatine from The Empire Strikes Back, Thanos will first appear strictly as a hologram, issuing orders and planning universal conquest with his ever obedient thralls, Ronan (played by Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan). In their report they claim that Thanos will appear in the flesh on one occasion but he apparently won’t be sowing any seeds of death this time around. Even though me may not be a physical presence throughout the film he will be mentioned “often and fearfully”.
The end of their report talks about a few stories details for GotG. According to them the Aether featured in Thor: The Dark World was not in fact the power gem (as we were lead to believe from Kevin Feige) but the mysterious orb glimpsed in the Guardians trailers is. The general consensus has Thanos hiring a band of cosmic entities to round up the valuable gems. Thanos hires the Collector (Benicio Del Toro), who in turn hires Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) to retrieve the power gem and this all equates to August’s GotG. It’s pretty convoluted stuff but all will be revealed in due time folks.
Other outlets (and OTL News) have reported on the rumour that Thanos will be making an appearance in the upcoming Age of Ultron, no details on that front yet but make sure to stay tuned to OTL News for all of the updates!
