And the nightmare that is Ant-Man keeps on keepin’ on. With the departures of both Edgar Wright and Adam McKay Marvel sought a new director to stop the bleeding and keep their production on schedule. Queue Rawson Marshall Thurber (We’re the Millers), Marvel’s third choice. Within a day Thurber went from being in active talks for the gig to passing just like the others.
With 3 directors passing on the character and the script, somethings gotta give. I guess the report stating Edgar Wright left due to poor, generic rewrites was true after all, maybe it was worse than was claimed. At this point I would recommend Marvel either can the project and start from scratch, can the project and choose a replacement IP or beg Edgar Wright to come back and work on his original vision.
Marvel has dealt with last minute personnel changes before but never to this extent. Ant-man was never a popular character and unless someone with a unique vision comes along he is probably better off not making an appearance. Edgar Wright seemed to be the man for the job and with him quitting it looks like marvel is out of luck in the meantime when it comes to Earth mite-iest hero.
