Growing up Disney movies were my magical get away. They opened up my imagination, helped me believe I could be whoever I wanted and do what ever my heart desired. Now that I’m older and starting to plan out my life and envision what my family will be like, I really hope Disney continues to bring that magic into my kids lives. If your looking to bring back that magic into your family or keep it right where it belongs, well Frozen is the movie for you!
Disney put a wonderful spin on this princess movie, not feeling content with one princess they threw in two for good measure! Talk about a thumbs up on putting emphasis on the importance of family, femininity and perseverance. It is a great movie for siblings because it shows the strength that family love creates and that no matter how bad things may seem family will always weather the storm. And yes, ofcourse there’s a romantic side to this story but it also comes packed with a wonderful, more realistic twist. Our ‘prince charming’ isn’t always the most handsome, richest man out there. Frozen shows children (especially little girls) that there is more to look for beyond the surface and that even though the surface may be beautiful the inside could be rotten. It is best to look at all the layers before making hasty decisions.
Frozen became a pandemic in my kindergarten classroom, no word of a lie. My children sang ‘let it go’ until the end of the school year and it’s still going loud and strong. We thought we could give our children a break from the songs so we took away the soundtrack from the classroom to introduce other musical influences but lo and behold they didn’t need the CD to play out their fantasies of magic, power and love.
The imagery, beautiful music, wonderful balance between humor, heart ache and fear make this movie fantastic for all ages. There’s something here for everyone (yes, that means you moms and dads), it can be great to remind us of the purity and easiness that love is and we can accomplish so much if we just believe in and support each other.
Frozen gets a cool 9.5\10 (not a full 10 because that song is killing me now :P)
