According to the reliable folks at Variety (via CBM.com), the previously 2,500 names up for the young Han Solo have been shaved down to a much more manageable 8. Did your favourite actor make the cut? Click on to find out.
Though the yet to be titled Han Solo flick isn’t set to begin production until 2017, Disney/Lucasfilm are eager to find their new Han sooner rather than later. With Variety reporting that Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller planning on making their decision within the next couple of weeks, hungry fans should be satiated in the near future.
Without further adieu, here are the 8 names still in the running for the role:
- Miles Teller (Fantastic Four)
- Ansel Elgort (The Fault in our Stars)
- Dave Franco (Neighbours)
- Jack Reynor (Transformers 5)
- Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad)
- Logan Lerman (Perks of Being a Wallflower, Fury)
- Emory Cohen (The Place Beyond the Pines)
- Blake Jenner (Glee)
Reason for the hasty casting isn’t a given but rumour has it that the young Han Solo actor could be appearing as soon as this holiday’s Rogue One or next years Episode VIII. Said to be taking place around 10 years prior to the events of A New Hope, the Han Solo film is set to be in theatres May 25th, 2018.
