A potential new Rogue One logo has been found courtesy of eBay and some military style merchandise. Take a look and “Go Rogue!”
The Force Awakens not only marked the triumphant return to a galaxy far, far away, but helped usher in a new initiative on the part of Disney/Lucasfilm that will see the Star Wars brand reach heights media empires only dream of. Spawning spin-offs and various multimedia tie-ins, the next major instalment in the Star Wars film franchise is none other than Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Various tidbits of information (character descriptions and potential story details) have leaked from the set thanks to sites like StarWarsNewsNet and MakingStarWars, now, we can add another story to that pile. Found on eBay, MakingStarWars has stumbled across what seems to be a brand new logo associated with the upcoming Rogue One. The phoenix logo of the rebellion has always been heavily associated with the film and here that symbol seems to have been co-opted and adapted for this new unit.
Below are some pictures of the new logo as well as some merchandise handed out exclusively to the cast and crew of the film. Check them out:
According to MakingStarWars, the alien writing found beneath the new logo is Aurebesh (the most prominent alien print in the Star Wars universe) for “Go Rogue”. Whether this symbol is associated with the group within the film or just a fun nod to the cast and crew of Rogue One is yet to be determined, but the image certainly looks interesting and does invoke a classic Star Wars feel while embracing the new age of SW fandom.
Here’s a short description of the merchandise pictured above:
“This bespoke duffel bag was specially commissioned for the cast and crew of the latest Star Wars film, Rogue One. It has been expertly hand made by Tombag of East Sussex. The brand’s military roots are immediately apparent in the solid brass hardware, durable waxed canvas material and unique top loader design.”
Rogue One is set to hit theatres on December 16th, 2016.
