“Fear him. Hate him. Loathe him. Condemn him. But you’ll never forget him.” Truer words may never have been spoken, at least when it comes to this incarnation of Patrick Stewart. Playing a deranged killer in the indie thriller Green Room, this is sure to be one performance that sticks with us. Check out the trailer!
Centered around a small indie band and their attempts at surviving an attack by deranged killers and thugs, the Jeremy Saulnier directed picture looks to take horror thrills to a whole new level. You won’t find an abundance of the traditional horror hallmarks here, just straight and simple scares derived from a terrifying situation and a bloodthirsty psychopath (sometimes less is more). The cast is oozing talent, from the babyfaced Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) to the genre icon Patrick Stewart (older Star Trek), this film isn’t lacking experienced thespians.
Moreover, the situation itself harkens back to a simpler time for the slasher flick. One less focused on grand spectacle and broad appeal. Instead, the intimate nature of the premise works in the films favor. Offering a chance to get to know these kids, and subsequently feel for them once their demise (in the form of good ol’ Stewie) catches up with them. I haven’t heard much about Green Room, but after seeing this, I definitely want more.
Green Room hits theaters April 15th, 2016.
