X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27th, 2016
With Batman V Superman less than a week away and Captain America: Civil War stealing the lime light with their awe inspiring trailer, many people are forgetting about the little X-Men film coming in May. Well, forget no longer and start worshipping at the altar of Apocalypse. Check out the trailer!
Offering our best looks yet at all of the mutants young and old, this new trailer is a clear standout from all of the others. Oscar Isaac shines as the titular mutant and the structure of the larger story is clearly laid out. Apocalypse certainly looks like the disaster film it was made out to be by producers, my only potential gripe is how on earth are the X-Men supposed to compete? With such a menacing and powerful team of villains, I only hope that the writers haven’t devised some cop out ending that utilizes the power of love or friendship to overcome their adversities (because that would SUCK).
Keeping with the positives, all of the x-men look better than ever, particularly when it comes to the villains. The core X-Men team still seem reluctant to imbue their super suits with any color outside of the deepest blue. On the other hand, the villains have embraced their comic book roots and donned outfits even the most hardcore of fans could get behind (even Apocalypse is looking better these days). Hopefully this turn to the source material pervades the story of Apocalypse as well as the look.
Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theaters on May 27th, 2016.
