With The Amazing Spiderman 2 recently hitting theatres and its strong implications for the future of the franchise I thought it a good time to put together my ideal list of contenders to fill out the villain ensemble. There are some pretty obvious choices in here but I do believe there are a couple of names that have yet to be thrown around. In any case, let’s get started (caution: there are big spoilers for the ASM2 so tread lightly). —>

Marc Webb’s second outing behind Sony’s crown jewel definitely lives up to the name. The Amazing Spiderman 2 was just that, amazing. While there were some notable issues ASM proves to be a thoroughly entertaining, emotional, silly, adept world building film all at the same time. Not one to shy away from it’s quirky comic book roots, The Amazing Spiderman 2 does a tremendous job of cementing Spidey as one of the premier superhero franchises on the market and shows that there is plenty of life left in Spiderman’s tank.
With Amazing Spiderman 2 heading to theatres everywhere this Friday the hype machine is running at full speed. Having seen the movie (look out for the review soon) I can safely say that there is no end credits stinger hinting at the future of the Spidey-verse. But that isn’t to say hardcore fans are out of luck. If you use the “Shazam” app on your smartphone during the end credits sequence you will unlock a special video offering clues to the future of the franchise.
